UX and UI design are the blueprint for success

Website, game, app or installation: it's all about the user experience

If your user experience (UX) is wrong then no amount of beautiful imagery or front-end trickery is going to keep people using your software. That’s why we don’t begin visual design or create any pretty pictures until we’ve fully planned how we’re going to build the software interface we’re building.

We approach UX from both functional and technical perspectives, considering the devices and browsers that the software will be used on and the environments it will be used in. Looking at existing analytics will show where problems lie with current platforms, while user research can reveal the unexpected ways that audiences use software and the considerations that you’ve missed during the design process. We review your objectives, KPIs and content plan before plotting sitemaps and user journeys. Via workshops, and in close collaboration with you, we then sketch and design wireframes for the user interface (UI), planning the functionality and layouts of every component and page template.

This methodical approach helps ensure that people using the software can find what they want as quickly and easily as possible and that you drive the bookings, purchases, enquiries or data acquisition that you require.

Communicating a new brand to an international audience

When The University of Bath asked us to design a new website for their School of Management we knew that a hefty user research stage was required before the design could begin. Via a mixture of online and in-person surveys, one-on-one interviews, data analysis and prototyping we established the differing needs, concerns and priorities of the many user groups. The information we gathered then fed into both our designs and the University’s content. Without it, we’d have missed out functions, features and pages vital to students and staff alike. With it, the site has proved so successful that our front-end components are now being adopted by the wider university for their main website.
