How do you get the next generation excited about the technology, innovation and careers shaping the future of motorsport? Put them in the driving seat.

Working with We Are Futures, we created Power Pursuit, an interactive browser-based game for Driving Force, Formula E’s educational programme designed to inspire young people through the world of electric motorsport. Players take control of the new GEN4 EVO Formula E car, race around a selection of tracks and collect facts along the way; turning learning into something a little more competitive.
And Power Pursuit is just one part of a wider digital experience we created for Driving Force, with three interactive games launching together to bring different aspects of Formula E to life.
What We Are Futures needed
As part of the Driving Force programme, We Are Futures wanted an engaging digital experience that could bring the latest Formula E technology to life and encourage users to discover more about the sport.
The game needed to live directly within the Driving Force website, meaning it had to be completely browser-based, accessible across desktop and mobile, and deliver a compelling experience without the need for an app or download.
It also needed to feel unmistakably Formula E. From the look and feel through to the car itself, the experience had to bring the energy and innovation of the championship into an educational format.
Getting behind the wheel
Through close collaboration with We Are Futures, we established the framework and narrative for the experience before designing and building Power Pursuit from the ground up – combining racing, exploration and education into one engaging experience.
At the heart of the game is a highly rendered digital version of Formula E’s new GEN4 EVO car. We optimised the model specifically for the browser, ensuring it could deliver the visual impact expected from a next-generation race car while still performing smoothly across a wide range of devices.
Players steer the car around different tracks, collecting facts as they race. Each playthrough gives them the opportunity to discover more about the car, its technology and the world of Formula E – giving the educational content a reason to come back and play again.
We also created two distinct control methods for the game. These are automatically selected based on the device being used, giving desktop and mobile players an intuitive way to get behind the wheel without having to think about how the controls work.
And because Driving Force is designed to reach an international audience, the experience can seamlessly switch between English and Arabic, making the game accessible to an even wider audience.
More than just racing
Power Pursuit also connects the excitement of Formula E with the people and careers behind it.
Alongside the facts collected during each race, players can explore a range of real-life careers within the world of Formula E. From the people developing the technology to those working behind the scenes, the experience helps demonstrate that there’s much more to motorsport than what happens on the track.
It turns a simple racing game into a gateway to discovering where a future career could take them.
The result
The finished experience brings together Formula E’s technology, education and ambition in one engaging digital experience – giving users a chance to experience the new GEN4 EVO for themselves while discovering more about the people, technology and careers shaping the future of electric motorsport.
Designed, built and optimised entirely by Kerve – following close collaboration with We Are Futures to establish the core narrative and framework, Power Pursuit launched as part of Driving Force alongside two other games we created for the programme, with the three experiences coming together to create a broader interactive learning experience.
The response has been fantastic, with the games receiving high praise across the board and now live as part of the Driving Force programme.
And that’s just the start. We’ll be taking a closer look at the other two games very soon.
Ready, set, learn.
